Lillie Rainey

Lillie Rainey is an accomplished social service worker on the surface with over 30 years of experience with working with children, families and community agencies. However, her foundational work of helping others is deeply rooted in her church ministries and her deep belief in continuing the work of Christ in helping others. Her philosophy is to empower others to help themselves. She prides herself as being a caring, commit, devoted individual to her family and her work.

Lillie is a mother of two daughters and one granddaughter. She believes in putting family first. She enjoys spending time with her family whether during special traveling adventures, traditional events such as holidays, or simple random visits.

Lillie is a Decatur native and graduated from Eisenhower High school. She was fortunate to work for various companies for a living. However, she felt a greater call to serve others.

Lillie started working with children at Webster-Cantrell Hall in 1992, where she started out as a residential and group home child care worker and she is a certified childcare specialist. She saw an opportunity to move up in the company to became a Lead Case Manager Assistant. Lillie truly loved her work experience at Webster-Cantrell Hall and she participated in many of the organizations’ trainings and events to help enhance the morale of the company, as well as to ensure the safety and well-being of the many children and families she serviced. While there she accomplished many awards with the agency over her 30 years of service. She retired from Webster-Cantrell Hall in 2021. Although she has retired, many of the children and families see her as someone they can look up to.

Lillie attends Church of the Living God Temple #4 where she is the Choir President, she serves on the Trustee Board and she is also on the Finance Committee. Lillie is also involved in her Church’s’ Holy Convocations and National Conventions where she can be found singing in their various choirs. She is willing to serve whenever and where ever she is needed. Her favorite scripture is from the 105th number of Psalm and it says: “O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon His name; make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him; talk ye of all his wondrous works.” She has made every effort to live out the words in this scripture on her career paths, in her civic endeavors, as well as in her personal life.

Lillie expresses that her current position with Northeast Community Fund is nothing short of the Divine Work of God. She is currently the Director of Clothing and Houseware Donations since February 2022. Lillie took the position after having visited the center and being made aware that the position was available. Lillie is beyond grateful for having this opportunity to work with great staff and being able to continue working with the community. Her life goal is to help others by giving them some hope and encouragement through words of wisdom, prayer, as well as a hand up.
